Fun Run at Kate Sessions Park

Posted

King's Cross Church in San Diego had an event that was an inflatable costume Fun Run at Kate Sessions Park!  There were 70-80 costumed runner participants, and 120 people attended throughout the day's festivities.

We provided inflatable costumes for kids and adults to run in and threw a big party to raise awareness about a nonprofit called The DistrActors that serves and brings joy and emotional healing to children who are hospitalized.  The DistrActors believe strongly that God has called them to create joy, as Proverbs 17:22 details: "A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones." We also hosted an "encouragement booth" where families could send a message to children in the hospital by name.

The encouragement booth proved massively successful and encouraging for the healthy kids and families as well as for the kids and families dealing with serious illness.  The video messages were sent to 20 kids...some as far away as Australia!

The cotton candy, popcorn, and bounce house were a major draw (which allowed us to add more families to our encouraging videos) and added a massive fun factor to the party.  It was such a blessing to provide joy and ministry opportunities to families in our local San Diego community.
