UNSWERVING HOPE

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23

An enthusiastic believer in Christ, Dan Richardson, lost his battle with cancer more than 20 years ago. But his life demonstrated that even though this dreaded disease may destroy the physical body, the spirit can remain triumphant. This poem was distributed at his memorial service and it has brought hope to many:

“Cancer is so limited . . .
It cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope,
It cannot corrode faith, it cannot eat away peace,
It cannot destroy confidence, it cannot kill friendship,
It cannot shut out memories, it cannot silence courage,
It cannot invade the soul, it cannot reduce eternal life,
It cannot quench the Spirit,
It cannot lessen the power of the resurrection.”

In Jesus Christ, we have eternal hope. Today in prayer, give thanks to the Lord that He is our Hope.

“One day we will meet beside the river and our Lord will dry every tear. For now, we must live in the joy of that promise and recall that for every generation life is hard, but God is faithful.” – Bodie Thoene

God’s Word: “But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation-- if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.” – Colossians 1:22-23
